Tops In Schools

Over the years NTE's educational programs have been refined and improved, thanks in part to input received by the company through its extensive evaluation process. Most people, however don't realize that this is a two-way process which also involves evaluation of the schools and of its representatives by both NTE office staff and performers. Most of the time, they deal with dedicated, hardworking, wonderful school staff and parents who get very little recognition but are the true pillars of a child's education. Starting in 2000, we've decided to let the world know what a great job these people are doing by giving out our annual "TOES UP AWARDS."

Congratulations to the winners! Can you hear that big ol' drum roll?

Best school principal

1999-2000
Toes Up for... Steve Ulrich, from Remington and Wolcott Elementary Schools, IN
Most principals will tell you that directing a school is tough. Not only does Mr. Ulrich direct two schools, but our performers report that he was by far the most "hands on" principal of the season, managing to be at one school very early in the morning to help unload stage equipment before running to the other school, all while advising children and diligently dealing with his staff! Mr. Ulrich had obtained funding for the programs through a Gifted/Talented grant and was also successful in getting the local newspaper, the Wolcott Enterprise to cover the events.

2000-2001
No Toes Up this season, most regrettably.

Best Cultural Arts Representative

1999-2000
Toes Up for... Patricia Miller, Cultural Arts Chairperson at Lucy Barnsley Elementary School, Rockville, MD

2000-2001
Toes Up for... Dianne Rowe, from Apex Elementary School in Apex, NC

"Toes Up" Awards are usually announced in July, once the school year is over.

2002. Please note that we have suspended these awards until further notice.
