READY FOR THAT ONE-OF-A-KIND TAP DANCE GIFT? |
| Our posters are of high quality, with deep tones, brilliant colors and one-of-a-kind designs. Most are printed on thick, beautiful paper. | |
| For many of the products below, you may right-click on the picture and select "open in another window" to SEE A LARGER VERSION* OF IT ON YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN. Please note however that due to the very low resolution and to the limited color palette which must be used for graphics on the internet, the images you see on this web site simply do not do justice to the actual products, even when you right-click on a picture and open it in a larger size. Also, pictures are very compressed or "squeezed" which may give slightly inaccurate views. For example, on the actual prints of mini-poster 117F there is plenty of space between the dancers' feet and the 3D frame. Many of the people who have been buying these prints have commented that they were surprised at how much better they look than on this web site. "Just plain gorgeous!" or "WOW" are often-heard comments. * "Larger version" does not mean actual size since full size documents would be enormous files that would be impractical for web browsing. Please refer to the actual size of each model under the general category headers. | |
| TIP. Framing your large-size poster Large art stores not only carry a good stock of 18x24 frames, but they often come available complete with a precut mat for an 12x18 picture. Additionally, they have pre cut mats available separately for other sizes (if your store does not carry them, ask them to order them.) Nice wooden frames range from $20 to $40, complete with matting and glass, but you can pay much less since most large stores run weekly ads with "40% off one item" coupons, sometimes more. This is a great, inexpensive way of enhancing/preserving our posters and changing the tired look of those walls! | |
| We do not charge extra for items which must be printed in very small quantities (such as item # 100-B below) even though they are much more costly to produce. We simply do not want to penalize our foreign friends and visitors! | |
| The "bumper" stickers are fun and inexpensive. They are water-resistant and they do not contain permanent-type adhesive on the back. This means that you can actually move these stickers from one spot to another on your car, your refrigerator, your office wall, bedroom wall, etc. | |

TAP DANCE LEGENDS
Over fifteen years in the making and involving extensive research and interviews across the country, this priceless poster is the only document, anywhere on the world, that gathers in one place the name, year* of birth and year* of death of more than 70 of the Great Pioneers of the history of tap dance, starting as far back as the 1800's, when tap was in its infancy. Many of these artists are "the giants," i.e. those who made huge contributions to the evolution of tap and yet were (until now) only known to a few scholars and experts. These pioneers are know "in the business" as "the Mozarts and Beethovens of Tap."
This poster also features a beautiful design with a few tap shoes representative of various styles as well as a very short historical introduction on tap dance. Very thorough research criteria were used for artists' selection. Artists are listed in alphabetical order.
* Information painstakingly verified for more than 95% of the artists featured. A few artists who have missing or incomplete information but are known for having made very significant contributions to our history were listed, as should be.
AN ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE FOR ALL TAP DANCERS AND STUDIOS!
Here is an excerpt of the posters' listings:
Fred Astaire (1899-1987) ~ Cholly Atkins (1913-2003) ~ Bill Bailey... etc.
This project would have never started without encouragement from the late great Steve Condos who said to us many years ago: "What we need is some kind of poster with the names and times of all the tap greats way back from the beginning of tap. I'd like to see that poster on the wall of every single dance school out there so that the new generations know who paved the way for them."
Well Steve, some labors of love take much more time, money and resources than one would ever think, but this one was more than worth it. We finally did it! We know you're watching, and we'd like to dedicate this poster to your memory.
Here are a few of the first customer comments about this poster:
"Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! You have made history about the history! My tap students just ADORE this poster."
"Even as a professional tapper I never really felt connected to our tap pioneers, probably because I didn't know many of their names. Now I do. I have all of them right up here on my wall and it is an incredible feeling. To the people who did all this amazing research I say: I will never be able to thank you enough for what you have done."
"I have a great teacher who tells us tons of stuff about tap history. I thought I knew most of the names but when I received that Tap Dance Legends poster and counted the names I knew, that was less 25% of the total. Wow, this is awesome, I'm just totally blown away."
"I have been into tap dance history for over 3 decades and I have never seen anything remotely close to this poster. Not only is it quite beautiful to look at, but as a historical document there's more valuable information in it than in entire tap books I have read."
"Any self-respecting tapper should have this poster. It really makes you feel like you know your history, and in a strange way you also feel like you become a part of that history."
